“Every second counts in an active shooter situation; preparation is the key to survival.” ~ Tom Czyz
On December 14, 2012, our nation was devastated by the news that twenty first graders and six adults had been murdered at Sandy Hook Elementary. As a father, husband of an English teacher, active shooter expert, SWAT operator, and homicide detective, Tom Czyz realized he couldn’t protect his own family. Determined to protect America’s schools, he founded Armoured One LLC, a company dedicated to ending the story of active shooter incidents. He assembled a team of top active shooter experts from SWAT, military special forces, federal agents, and school staff to create a company that would save lives.
Since then, Tom and his team of investigators have responded to over sixty K-12 school shootings, including Sandy Hook, Parkland, Santa Fe, Uvalde, and Nashville. They produce debriefs and presentations from these investigations to educate school administrators, first responders, architects, and politicians on preventing and surviving active shooter attacks. Additionally, Tom founded ONE Training LLC, a company now led by a school teacher, which provides certified active shooter training courses for various school staff positions to empower them to save students’ lives during a shooting.
A testament to Armoured One and ONE Training’s success is when one of the schools they assisted was attacked. During this attack, no one was killed or injured except the attacker, proving that proper training, notification, technology, and product hardening can save lives. Armoured One is now known as America’s School Safety and Security Company. Tom currently serves as chairman of the board of the National Safety Security Protection Association, a non-profit that helps states create minimal standards for security, and as a special advisor for ZeroNow’s National Council of School Safety Directors.
Tom is recognized nationally and internationally for his expertise in active shooter attacks, school security, and motivational speaking. His work has been featured by The New York Times, Rolling Stone, Forbes Magazine, HBO, Viewpoint, and numerous local, national, international, and global news outlets. He has presented across the globe to government officials and school associations for superintendents, school board members, facilities, and transportation. Tom has also collaborated with and trained local, state, and federal law enforcement. For over eleven years, he has worked tirelessly to protect America’s schools from active shooter attacks. His efforts have been acknowledged by school leaders, law enforcement, the FBI, government leaders, Fortune 500 business leaders, and, most importantly, the families of the lives he has helped save.
Tom Czyz is a pioneering force in advocating for legislative change to enhance school safety, mirroring historical efforts that transformed fire safety laws in schools and drawing from his extensive background in law enforcement and crisis management. His tireless campaigns aim to prioritize proactive measures against active shooters and foster a culture where prevention and preparedness are paramount.

Mr. Czyz was a keynote speaker at our annual conference with district leaders from across our state. The high-energy presentation was well-crafted, thought provoking and exceeded our expectations. The key leadership concepts and ideas presented should make a profound difference in the way district leaders lead their teams and plan for “the what if” during the coming year.

I want to thank you for the active shooter training we had today. After 12 years as a school-based administrator, I have sat through a lot of these – and this is the best debrief I have been in. Tom was able to balance levity with the serious material. And what I appreciate most is that the majority of action items he discussed were things we could implement as site-based leaders. Instead of ending feeling despondent and sad, I left with a list of ideas and notes that I will implement this school year. It was just really, really great today, and I am looking forward to the online training part. SO – thanks! ❤

On behalf of the entire Louisiana Sheriffs Association and all attendees we would like to first thank Tom Czyz for presenting The Nashville Debrief at our 2024 Louisiana Sheriffs & Wardens Conference. We believe The Nashville Debrief is a presentation for anyone and everyone who is a stakeholder in school safety. Throughout the entire presentation there is no denying the love and compassion Tom has while speaking about the subject of school safety and security. The Nashville debrief was not Tom trying to sell or promote any of the products his company manufactures and sells. If you didn’t know beforehand that Tom owned a company that sold school safety products, you would have walked out of the presentation thinking the same. There are many times when vendors of certain products want to revolve their entire presentation around the product they sell which then turns the presentation into a sales pitch. Tom was extremely professional about keeping the two separate and not mentioning anything but the debrief. Tom was very engaging with the audience and owned the stage with his presence. Tom's delivery of the presentation will have you engaged the entire time. If school safety has not been at the top of your priority list it will be after you hear this presentation. Some quotes from the Sheriff's “That was the best presentation I have seen in reference to school safety” “That was the was one of the best keynote speakers I have heard at this conference” “Anyone and everyone who is in law enforcement needs to hear that presentation. We would recommend Tom and his presentation “The Nashville Debrief” to everyone!

“This book is going to force you to reconsider your policies, your protocols, and your existing safety measures,” Czyz Writes. “It might make you realize you spent money on the wrong things. While attending the 2022 NYSSFA Annual Conference in Saratoga, New York, I had the privilege of participating in the Uvalde Debrief session presented by Tom Czyz, a seasoned professional from Armoured. With a distinguished track record of leadership in relevant professions and associations, Tom brought forth a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the presentation, making it an invaluable experience. His session underscored the paramount importance of staying well-informed about current events to effectively address safety concerns in educational settings.
